There is a new trend of office spaces whose organization promotes a culture of development of ideas and collective entrepreneurship. Within each of the centers that have adopted these new models, communities are being created of people who inspire, share and learn from each other, generating group intelligence. According to recent studies, it has been proven that employees achieve greater productivity by working in an environment that promotes social interaction and teamwork, and that they are always connected.
These centers rely on new trends to introduce working models such as activity based working, in which the collaborator does not have a traditional office, but works in a collaborative environment where they share the space with their colleagues. This makes offices attractive, energizing and socially connected.
Among the advantages of these centers is the use of the spaces, since they offer a wider variety of options to use them, which translates into lower operating costs, the second highest for most companies. Also, some offer services such as personalized mentoring, training courses, and a wide network of contacts that allows you to expand the horizons of any business. In addition to all this, they also tend to have state-of-the-art technologies and modern tools that allow the user to work from anywhere in the world.
Among the leaders of these new trends is WeWork, which currently has 41 centers in the United States, London, Amsterdam and Telaviv. In 2004, JetBlue let 700 employees in its Customer Service department work from home, which led to the elimination of the central office and meant savings in square meters per month. In a similar case, Aetna let 47% of its close to 35,000 employees work remotely; thus achieving savings of millions per year in its operation, and a high increase in productivity. Cases like these are what have led sociologists to estimate that, by 2020, 40% of the world’s workforce will operate independently.
Some of the advantages of this type of environment are:
- Promote creativity as a maximum resource to increase business productivity.
- Improve the quality of life of users with work models that promote a better balance between personal and work life.
- To support the productivity of the companies, offering spaces and services that adapt to the current necessities diminishing the cost of operation of real estate.
- Promote a culture of collaboration in the community that allows the impulse and capitalization of projects and economies with avant-garde models.
